Guide to the Basics

A brief overview of the resources available at the Library of Rush University Medical Center

Summary

This guide serves as an introduction to the Library of Rush University Medical Center.  It will introduce you to what resources we have, how to access them, and how to use them.

Perhaps the most important thing to know is that you can always ask for help.  Librarians are available via email lib_ref@rush.edu, phone (312)942-5950, chat, or a scheduled appointment; or just walk-in with a question.  We're located on the 5th floor of the Armour Academic Center (AAC) and are happy to help!

The Library of Rush University Medical Center

The Library of Rush University Medical Center provides access to literally millions of items, including printed material, online resources, and multimedia.

There are often several steps to conducting an effective literature search.  You need to know how to find information, how to access to it, and how to save it.

Resources: Where to Find Information

Rush's resources are divided into four categories, as seen in the image above.

  • The blue Databases tab provides access to millions of items. These databases are collections of electronically available material, including articles, book chapters, data sets, conference papers and much more.
  • The red Catalog button provides access to books, journals and other materials owned by Rush (print and electronic).
  • The purple eJournals tab allows you to search and access our electronic journals by journal title or ISSN.
  • The orange eBooks tab allows you to search and access our eBook collection by book title or ISBN.
